The Return of the Czar - Online documentation first answer to your question. (Read the interview if they def do not pay to see the movie) The Return of the Czar. Answer to your question is really interesting. He talks about how the United States has tried to "democracy" in Russia to bring, and it was like a shock therapy for people, it was virtually impossible to convert to capitalism and the Democratic Republic for a week.
The company is actually very effective at this time in Russia, but it is certainly less regulated than here in (USA).
There is also a great movie, tycoon came to the current economic situation and the oligarchs who control the economy in fact I am sure you can in English, if you want to see.
YouTube documentaries or Putin's Russia should be some good information about the economy and the transition. (Also on my site) ThaUnseen.com
I can tell you a little about my experiences of life in Russia. I was born in 1987, broke the Soviet Union in 1991. I remember we had to make our ownBread in order to survive, because the prices shot sky. People were not paid, unemployment, food shortages, drug abuse, alcoholism, etc., the taxi drivers have more money, then the surgeons and doctors. It is (still) difficult to find a job, even a degree more valuable and more people are educated in Russia after the U.S., but the labor market is a lame duck. I left when I was 12 years old, has never been the real struggle that my parents had to do.
I hope this has helped you a little.
